Jasper transmission

purchased a vehicle based on it having had the transmission replaced with a jasper unit. It is just outside the time limit of the warranty with only 40k miles on it and is failing. So my advice is to use a reputable local transmission shop to do your rebuild , not order a unit from out of town. All service procedures followed based on recommendations The vehicle was not used for towing or hauling large amounts of weight . It is just simply a poor quality rebuild . Definitely do your research before taking on such a large purchase or you may be very disappointed with the outcome in the end.

Sooo you buy a used vehicle not knowing how it was driven, how it was maintained for sure, the trans fails when it's out of warranty and you didn't even purchase it and your mad? Ok.

Jasper is great been dealing with them since the 80s and there quality is far from poor... loyal Jasper installer right here and will continue business

Bad Mustang Engine

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My '99 Mustang (3.8L V-6) threw a rod, so I bought a Jasper rebuilt engine. It threw a rod within six months!

So they replaced it, which cost me over $1,000 in labor, since I hadn't purchased the extended warrantee (I typically don't). About a year later I started the car and it blew the front main seal, and dumped most of its oil on my driveway. Then a few months later it blew the oil filter seal, and then did it again a few months later, leaving a trail of oil on my street, and some unhappy neighbors. We determined that the oil pump relief valve had failed, and Jasper replaced the engine, which again cost me over $1000.

So I'm now on my third Jasper engine in three years! They tell me that my warrantee is now expired, and when it fails again (which I am now afraid it will) they will not pay to replace it. They maintain that they have met all the terms of their warrantee, and are not obligated to reimburse me for excess labor costs.

I maintain that the quality of their product is poor, and that if they wanted a happy customer they would try to do something to make it right for me. If I do have to replace this engine again, you can bet it won't be with a Jasper!

chances are the transmission cooling system is clogged and the installer did not use the the proper method like the hot flush machine from hotflusher.com to completely clean and flow check the transmission's cooling system... and then jasper looks bad for something out of there control.. I've installed over 500 of them and they usually give good service.

Jasper Engines And Transmissions - Diesel Engine Review

I am own a repair facility. I purchased a $14,000 Diesel engine for an ambulance after the original unit broke a crank at 200k. Within 1000 miles the water pump went while ambulance was on a trip with a critical patient. Towed it in at over $400, fixed it and was reimbursed except for the $400 tow. 2k miles later, no run and fuel leak. Towed in, faulty fuel filter housing. Reimbursed all but $200 tow. 10k miles now and towed in for no run. Found bad camshaft position sensor. Another tow bill not reimbursed. Out over $800 in tow bills because they can't build something that lasts. Will never buy another Jasper product. I bought the product because I was assured this was a quality product and that's what we wanted for an ambulance. So far from the truth. Currently have a blown up powerstroke and I will buy used before I buy Jasper's junk.

Jasper engines transmissions & drivetrain

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We are certified auto & truck repair facility. Two of three Master ASE certified techs. I have been installing Jasper products for over 25yrs. #1 Out of over 150 or more installs I have had 3 failures. 1 out of the "box" and takin care of next day. 1 after 38months labor & part paid at their current labor rate, Which every Jasper certified installer knows ahead of time. If these other shops do not agree to take that then they are not underwriting the warranty. We accept Jasper's payment as payment in full for all our customers. #2 The proper diagnosis of what caused the original problem is the most critical, otherwise you risk repeat failures. Just because the effect was a reason to replace a part does not mean it was the cause. #3 I have spent many years at the dealership, so I have seen it both ways. The oem replacement may or may not have updates to cure a known weakness. I have toured the entire Jasper facility. Failure analysis is a major priority in their company. The steps they take to engineer out original manufacturing defects is amazing. We only install Jasper when available and do not forsee a future without them. As I read through some of these complaints I question if some of this has to do with installation or maintainence. There is also the question of the sales rep. in these areas. Our sales rep. Darin Damron Orlando district is at the top of list. His efforts to educate us & our customers is top notch. Thanks for your time Paul E Smith Ortega Car Care Jax Florida

Jasper Engines And Transmissions - Car Engine Review from Stockton, California

I totally agree with everyone in regards to the quality of jasper engines. It cost me a arm and my leg to pay for a new engine in my 07 Chevy Silverado.

I regularly change the oil, I'm easy on the truck it's self and take care of it like it was a child of mine. I was at 12k miles when I starting hearing problems. But the mechanic who used only jasper engines said nothing is wrong. So I go on with my life but then months later it gets louder and so I bring it back and he says the same thing.

So this time I take it to a friend who's a great mechanic and he's telling me he hears the noise as well but they still won't do anything about it. Now I'm 60k miles into it and there is definitely something wrong with it because it's loud as *** but now there telling me jasper won't cover the labor nor the parts needed and want me to pay4500.k$ they were highly recommended where I live but now I will never get/have/or use a jasper engine again.

They are garbag and the mechanics/ other company's they work with Are greedy and lazy. Worst 8700.$ I ever spent.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Original long block purchased in July 2014 in the water by August. After break in and a couple of weeks started having problems with hydrolock.

replaced intake gaskets but problem got worse. Contacted local installer for evaluation, blown head gasket. Engine #1. Following Summer new engine installed, some minor problems, was able to fish into December, on our way in lost power, ended up to be 2 burnt pistons, Engine # 2.

Engine #3 arrived spring of 2016 installed had oil leak behind flywheel, had to come out, leak repaired, in the water after 13 hours sever knocking. Now it's out of warranty.

Asked for my money back, no support, made me a lame offer but it will cost me more money. UNBELIEVABLE

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE / AWLFUL ENGINE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a engine for a Monte Carlo 3.9 liter and it did not have any oil pressure. So they sent another one and would only pay the shop 70.00 per hour to install so that cost us another chunk of money. Then this one would not run so we took it to the local dealer and they said the motor is bad. Well after 90 days and two engines later lovey Jasper would not help us at all. They claim it would take another month to figure out what is wrong with it and if they could not figure it out they would send another engine...REALLY!!! so we asked the dealership how much would it cost to get a new engine from them and it was better and cheaper than Jasper...Also they will not pay any labor time...so we are out another 1500 for install...THIS COMPANY SUCKS.... We will never ever buy another engine or even call this company again .

Who is Building the Engines?

Perhaps the first question when considering this product needs is, "Who is building the engines?'

Second question: "Where are these engines built?

Third Question: "Does the person(s) doing the work know what they are doing?

I have a hard time believing they hire only experienced engine builders. Could be more like an assembly line where the person(s) doing the work are like trained seals. They are taught a specific function without the knowledge or experience to know when something doesnt smell right.

Always ask lots of questions before your purchase. It's too expensive to leave to chance.

So Right !!!!!!

Been to there facility many many times in Jasper Indiana. State of the art!!!

And HUGE the one location is 9 acres under roof!!! The engines, transmissions etc. are manufactured assembly line style. They don't hide that fact any one can take a tour of their place!

I'd recommend it. With I think they said now over 2000-**** employees I don't imagine all employees are hired on with experience but they have a pretty extensive training program no different than o.e.

Manufactures, they are production assembly line as well :).... I've been dealing Jasper for many years, always great service and products.

Four bad engines in a row, jasper paid for three to be replaced. This last one they say was good and wont be paying me to replace their bad engine. 1st engine had a cracked oil pan, they sent a replacement. 2nd had a broken piston ring, they paid to replace it, 3rd 4.3 had no oil pressure, they paid to replace it. this last one had no compression in cylinder 4, they say it was good and wont be paying, awful funny the rep was there and showed him cyl 4 had 20#'s. Beware buy at your own risk they stiffed me for $2500.00
